A best seller for 3000 years

It took some time to get through, but I got there. Definitely worth the bother. Scandal, intrigue and romance all blending into one long war scene. And then there were the eyes from Mt Olympus, the immortals.
They meddled with the mortals' lives as they saw fit, indeed if it wasn't for them the war would have never begun. They even meddled in the phenemon I would call Soul Playing - taking the presence (along with the metaphysical) of a human and playing his role as they see fit. Athena Bright Eyes seemed very into this concept.
Zeus Cloudgatherer was the one who watched over all - we'll call him the Soul Controller. You would face dire consequences if you went against Him, mortal or immortal. He did not want the war between the Trojans and the Dardinians, but was the one to decide the outcome. His obvious favourite was Achilles, and he backed his winner to the finish.
Achilles was not for the war in Homer's The Iliad. Indeed, he refused to fight for some time, as his King Argamemnon had recently taken his prized wife from him. Both sides of the battlefield did not wish for war, and initially decided upon a battle between their best men, Troy's Paris and Dardaan's Hercules. But the gods - especially Poseidon (Neptune), Apollo, the god of war Mars, and Athena - wished for more.
And more they got. Troy had a winner in Hector, who fought a bloody fight for his legendary city. The Dardaans knew, if only Achilles would enter the battle, they would suffer no more losses.
But it would take alot of coaxing and loss to convince Achilles to enter.
I was expecting to find the explanation behind the term Achilles' Heel in this novel. It didn't, but it was still far from disappointing. Four out of five (Balsphemy!)

...whoa that was a wild ride from Ash's link there...
*smoothing hair and skirts*
...thanks for the link I wanted to catch up - here's why... [nothing to do with this post]
Q: What do you call a cross between Jazz and Funk?
A: JUNK (?)
[ha ha - my daughter came in whilst I was reading your comments on Ash's post and reminded me of that joke in the closing scenes of the movie ROBOTS].
I look forward to your JUNK, it cannot be worse than much of the other real-junk that's about these days ... exciting ... I love Japanese music and Jazz and look forward to the mix.
Yes, I love flamenco. In my opinion Spanish guitar music is amongst the most erotic music the world has produced ... I played a few tunes, but since I picked the guitar back up, so much is forgotten that I must relearn... dang! I've even forgotten the opening bits to stairway to heaven [can you imagine?] a staple in younger days before babies. Still it'll all come back I'm sure... but I digress, completely ...
To this post and how much I love the Greek legends, so much so that the tarot cards I use [when reading], are the Mythic Greek Tarot. Who could not love the stories of Achilles, Daeldius, Jason, interfering gods and goddesses, Midas, Eros and Psyche, Hermes and Orpheus... great stories great wisdom within them.
Love your posts, keep 'em coming,
Lilla...
Sorry this is stilted, I lost the original comment to a time-out from the link connection - I didn't know they did that?

Lilla, ditto to your daughter. Did she think of any of your titles?

I will attempt to accept that as a compliment. Tell your daughter JUNK says a friendly, "Enough with the jokes, kid."
