Emotional Rip-Offs
January 9th 2009 09:31
Its the problem with women. Its the problem with men. And these men and women really need to get together to give each other a taste of their own medicine because the rest of us don't really have the emotional wearwithall to do the same in return.
First they let you know their available. Maybe get a little flirty, add a sly remark that they like you more than your friends, and end up calling you the next day. "Watcha up to right now?" Right now?!
Well they made it clear they don't want to see your friends, but hey lets shed a little light into the situation and allow their friendship in. The swollen ego arises out the swamp as the comment is made:
From the men - "All women are bitches"
And the women - "All men are bastards"
The comment is made apropo to nothing, they just want you to get a little brainwashed and see how you react. The wise thing to do back would to be assertive and say "Mate wtf are you on about?" or the more passive way of dealing with what could be quite coarse subject would be through silence.
I've tried the latter, and do not recommend it. As their pretensions and self-giving prophecies flare, you may find it hard to sleep by the end of the night. The emotional rip-off artist truly enjoys making surrounding beings anxious and maybe in need of a little counselling.
I guess the best way to respond would be by quoting Johhny Rotten: "You've got a problem? The problem is you!" but telling these people just how wrong and twisted their views on things in general are can spark their ever present violent side, as we exit stage left.
Emotional ripoffs are hard to bear, and can leave a scar for years after the culprit has left our lives. Don't let yourself be patronised or stood over by people you meet in this world, as for myself I wish I'd left such people alot earlier than I did.
It may take some insight and experience to notice it, but as soon as they cast a shadow over you it is time to let them know its a wrap.
Here's to the future >clink< #burp*
