Guangzhou and Macau

Southern China, where would the world be without it! The megacity of Canton and the counties/provinces surrounding it are like a stimulant which, taken in large doses, can be very addictive.
The shopping here is possibly the cheapest in the Northern Hemisphere, the women of the area are gorgeous and the east-meets-west architecture, especially on the smaller scale, is magnificent to behold.
The temples, parks and shrines are of massive proportions and somewhat humbling for the average traveller. Although it can be a problem where one is at a point as so right in front of them is a view of something impossible to grasp with a simple camera, but at the same time the air quality prevents one from seeing to far into the horizon.
It makes it easier to understand why they take so many trips to, and photos of, a place as vast and relatively empty as Australia. The population of Beijing alone is 27 million, while Guangzhou is at 10 million. You could say that the population of Beijing minus the population of Guangzhou equals the population of Australia.
Maybe that will put it into perspective for you. It is so different from Australia, yet so close, that a place like Guangdong (the province which houses the capital city Guangzhou) can broaden an Aussie's view of the world at an exceptionally fast pace. Not to mention expand the mind into a different experience that can, and for me most probably will, produce an experiential memory and vibe to last a lifetime.
Mind you, with the fast paced lifestyle of Macau and Guangdong and its result on the environment and people, it is not for the faint-hearted.
In South-East China, you can either find your sanity, or lose it.
