Invisible Sanity

As the silly season raises its glorious head across the world once again, it is only human to get caught up in the action as if this were to be the last time.
Running around like headless chickens, we shop and socialise and eat and be merry to the point one cannot be sure to survive that first day of work for the year when it comes around. Work christmas parties are the perfect example of society eating itself without realising we are doing so.
Yet it all has a point, something not so religious but more...socio-economic, if you know what I mean.
A new year is to be ushered in, and places like Sydney don't take that fact light-heartedly. Not to say there are many who simply refuse to be swept into the atmosphere, but to consider this town as a single entity would be to say its one chaotic party animal at this time.
Although a perfect feeding time for the social butterflies and many observatory experiences for the passer by, the simple idea of passing festive traits to each other and our loved ones has been hammered into our existence from an early age. Hell, you can catch me saying Happy New Year in July (as an icebreaker).
To prove an existential point, it is common for us to play a major role in the festivities without the thought of the prophets who passed on or the reinvention that some believe comes with a new decade.
Props to the party. I'm just happy to be a part.
