Planet New Year

December 30th 2006 06:58
Life goes by so slowly in between big events. The silly season is once again circumnavigating everyone’s personal space, all there is to do after is wait for the next housewarming or some form of anniversary. A career-changing experience or enough money from the previous career to travel across the seas.

A gem from the ever-charming Sarah Blasko; “Such a delightful curse/ to have wasted so much time.” These lyrics were going through my head as I drifted in my uncle’s kayak along the Cook River on Christmas Day. I am still unable to think straight enough to understand the significance of why they were in my head, but it definitely struck a chord.

Depending on how this year goes, I may well be holding a housewarming, but regardless the third anniversary of my 21st birthday is just around the corner. The career changing experience may well have something to do with flamenco. Listening to Paco Pena and reminiscing of days in the musician’s haven of Newtown and taking lessons there struck yet another chord. The progression A minor, G, F and E. Pick up my blue-tainted guitar and you will be demanded to play that in 12 beats. Go on, put a smile on my face.

That’s better.

Happy New Year everyone!

wasting time; a necessary evil, Sarah Blasko's quote; priceless!!! .. ah ya just have to waste time, time loves to be wasted... especially when all year i'ts been watched like a hawk, manipulated, screamed at, chewed up, spat out and still left ticking...

"...and there's a/ million voices/ telling you what to think so you better sober up/just for a second..."

Yossou N'Dour & Neneh Cherry - 7 seconds.
I've got to find more of their music from the 90's. Creedence: Proud Mary. No?

I'd quote Les Nubians if I could, and there's alot of gorgeous Brazilian music out there. I think that, at times, you can tell the quality of the lyrics even if you don't know what is said.

They can't fake the feeling

My New Years resolution is to allow for Celia to be my muse. I won't act like I haven't daydreamed about it.

Have you heard their collab album? I haven't been gutsy enough to check it out yet.

ESL - English as a second language

ESL's - English and other second languages. eg Monica Bellucci and Sophie Loren are Italian, but also speak French, english and I think a bit of Spanish.

The director of Babel is one - I heard the tower of Babel was that in which, biblically, where the languages of the world was formed. The movie has like five different languages in it, the director is originally Mexican (the same guy who did 21 Grams, I can't remember his name.

I think I'll see that movie today - what's going on down Melbourne way? I figure there'll be something massively overcrowded at Federation Square/ Southbank - kids getting drunk at the skatepark? I don't know. I wonder what St Kilda will be like...If Melbourne's Sydney's sister city then St Kilda is Bondi's sister beach... all types of "circumnavigating" going on over here.

And Fitzroy! Melbourne's Surry Hills (or maybe Newtown)... Chapel St reminds me of Leichardt...

hey OO..

My first language is grump ass hehe -- seriously... i love european languages, especially français
.. the sounds are beautiful... i want to learn it next year.. IF my time and more-so, my focus, will allow it..

Tonight in Old Melbourne town will be the usual fireworks at around 9, also i read that the Melbourne Aquarium is having a (Magical) Crystal Cave Ball (only $196.00 per person - balk). There's a big Circus on somewhere too, or would that be all of Melbourne. Me i'm staying home with the apples (my bloodloves), probably count in 2007 watching all the pissed-as-a-parrot-party-animals (who gets their parrot pissed?) on the banks of the Yarra, on telly, Ch. 9. And no doubt, run amok on here .. just a lil

Reminds me, Ash has a party underway at her blogplace, do drop by for a wee tippler.

The Partay

Chapel Street - been a while since i've been there.
Anyhow, i like Lygon Street is better....

What's happening in Sydney?

Where's Lygon St?

Oh Sydney... there's the less pretentious (oops I mean expensive) clubs and the more so, but I think I've moved on from that.

There's fireworks over what this year we're calling the coathanger (harbour bridge), and a whole miniseries of them in Bondi, along with the Basement Jaxx taking up the soundwaves. Darling Harbour also has its own version.

I'm actually more so looking forward to the free Brazilian Jazz concert in the Domain, in a couple weeks time. I have been invited to a house do tonight ( bunch of crazies), but I'll see how I go.

Thanx for the invite, I'll see where my wave takes me.

I sense retardation. .. did I take anything else last night? no, phew, my limited abstinence remains intact.

A yes the wonder known as green tea - no i won't take panadol - just a couple cigarettes to wash it down with.

Reoxidation and rehydration, re'-a-book-ation, with sunnies on. Hold up, yes, the sun is out.. oh to sleep with the sunshine, but to avoid the punishment!

Playing: Van Morrison, And it stoned me... Oh, how it stoned me
