Sitting in the waiting room

October 19th 2007 07:04
We walk into the club. She stands at the door and notices the blokes eyeing her out left, right and centre.

I usher her in as she sings a line from a Fugazi song:

"Why can't I walk down the street, free of suggestion..."

At that point I see why she stalled and, feeling quite the smooth dude, counter with a line from a Doobie Brothers song. It tends to work a charm.

"You don't have to prove to me you're beautiful to strangers..."

At this point in time, and for the past six months, I've been in the waiting room. Continuing to make a move until the point where she gives in and let's me bat one for six - aiming to take out one of the lights perched high on the stadium.

Sure, some may think I'm aiming too high, but its not like she doesn't have her problems. We all have our problems. When someone confides in you with an issue commenting that its 'no biggie' you can bet there's a more serious issue floating through their minds.

That issue may not especially be their problem. Like war, denial of human rights, etc. That's when they start singing:

"Why can't I walk down the street, free of depression..."

As a general rule, we all think too much and end up catastrophising certain situations at times. For me the problem is this: the longer I wait to get laid, the more pressure there will be for a top shelf performance. Wtf is the point of waiting six months for a one night stand?

Then again, not making it official has its perks. At my local dance floor a couple of weeks ago, I was getting looks from about ten different women at one time. Let's just say I know how to dance to drum n bass. Its all down to survival of the best looking in these situations. The friend I with at the time commented how I have a different girlfriend every weekend.

But with such territory comes loneliness.

So I've filtered my options to two. Both are out of town for the time being, but both are worth waiting for.

If you see them let them know - Opto's waiting.
